In this paper, we compare several well-known OFDM channel estimation methods. Although many OFDM channel estimation methods have been proposed, comparative analysis and simulations that are performed in the same condition are needed to compare the performance and the characteristics of them. Five major OFDM channel estimators are dealt in this paper: MMSE estimation in the frequency domain, LS estimation, Estimation using SVD, RLS estimation, and MMSE estimation in the frequency and time domain. We conclude that MMSE estimation in the frequency and time domain is the most accurate channel estimator among them and LS estimation is the least complex estimator. Some distinct features of other estimators are also addressed.
