딥페이크는 인공지능 기술을 활용한 사람의 얼굴 혹은 특정 부분을 합성하는 기술을 지칭하며, 최근 딥페이크를 악용한 사례들이 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있다. 이렇게 생성된 딥페이크 영상물이 가짜 뉴스와 음란물 생성 등에 악용되고 있어, 이에 대응할 수 있는 탐지 기술 개발이 시급하다. 최근 고화질 영상의 딥페이크 탐지 기술은 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 딥러닝 기반의 탐지 기술들이 높은 성능을 자랑한다. 하지만, SNS, 동영상 공유 서비스 등 소셜미디어에서는 압축된 저화질의 딥페이크가 많이 유포되고 있으며, 저화질의 딥페이크는 고화질에 비해 정보량이 적어 탐지가 더욱 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 저화질의 딥페이크를 효율적으로 탐지 할 수 있는 지식 증류 기반의 딥페이크 탐지 기법을 소개 한다. Student 모델이 Teacher 모델로 부터 딥페이크 탐지에 필요한 정보를 Multiview Attention과 Frequency Attention를 통해 전달받아 저화질의 딥페이크를 효율적으로 탐지한다. 나아가, 저화질 딥페이크를 비지도 초고해상도 학습 기술을 활용하여 탐지하는, Multi-scale Branch Zooming Network에 대해서도 소개한다.

▶ 연사 소개
Currently, Simon Woo (https://dash-lab.github.io/) is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in CS/AI/Data Science depts at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles/Information Sciences Institute (USC/ISI). His current research focuses on data security and privacy as well as anomaly detection for time series and vision applications. In particular, he aims to develop a wide range of data-driven methods to improve the detection of deepfakes. Also, his other research interest is on data and machine learning privacy to improve the robustness of the-state-of-the-art machine leaning algorithms, and address privacy issues in the end-to-end machine learning pipeline. In addition, he has worked on satellite operations, SAR image detection and object detection, etc. He is the organizer for the first Workshop on the Security Implications of Deepfakes and Cheapfakes (WDC) at AsiaCCS 2022.

Before joining SKKU, he was a Member of Technical Staff for 9 years at the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, CA, conducting research in satellite communications, computer networking, AI, and security. Also, he worked at Intel Corp, and Verisign Research Labs. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering degree (B.S.EE) from Univ. of Washington (UW), Seattle, M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering degree (M.S.ECE) from Univ. of California, San Diego (UCSD), and M.S. (M.S.CS) and Ph.D. in Computer Science from USC.
